Our Story

Our Mission

At Enat Ethiopian Restaurant, our mission is to elevate the awareness and appreciation of Ethiopian cuisine by blending authentic, time-honored flavors with a modern, welcoming dining experience. We believe food is more than just a meal — it’s a way to connect, to share culture, and to bring people together.
Every dish we serve is crafted with intention, care, and bold flavor. Just as important as our food is our service. We pride ourselves on hospitality that is warm, professional, and genuine — because the only thing better than a great meal is feeling truly welcomed while enjoying it.
Our ultimate goal is simple:
to leave you excited to come back… and maybe even dreaming about your next visit before you’ve finished the first.

The Meaning of “Enat”

The name Enat translates to “mother” in Amharic, and that meaning is at the very heart of who we are.
Enat was inspired by the woman who shaped everything we believe about food, family, and community — Tina’s mother, Beke Alemu. She wasn’t just the inspiration behind the recipes; she was the foundation behind the vision. Her love, strength, and unwavering belief in sharing culture through food made Enat possible.
From the very beginning, Enat was built on the idea that food should feel like home — comforting, generous, and meant to be shared. That philosophy came directly from her kitchen, where meals were never rushed, plates were always full, and everyone was welcome at the table.

A Legacy of Love, Flavor, and Culture

Beke Alemu was Enat’s biggest supporter and constant source of motivation. Her spirit lives on through every dish we serve, every guest we welcome, and every detail that makes Enat what it is today. The lessons she taught — about perseverance, kindness, and leading with love — guide everything we do.
Her legacy is not only preserved, but celebrated, through Enat. Through the aromas of berbere and niter kibbeh, through injera shared hand-to-hand, and through the joy of introducing Ethiopian cuisine to new generations of guests.

WOW WOW WOW!!!!! This food was so amazing. The flavor literally slapped me in the mouth. I was in heaven. I loved the derek-style lamb tibs the most. There were crispy, seasoned and cooked to perfect.

I love optimist hall, they have such a variety of restaurants. Enat was such great place to try! I love trying new and different foods. I thought their veggie plate was very good and filling. Overall I had a great experience and I'd be excited to try another plate of something ethiopian.

Small and cozy run by family - you feel welcomed right from the start. The waitstaff is patient with newbies and explain the menu so you feel comfy with how or what to order. They even have a glossary right on their menu. 🙂

I love this place their food is flavorful and what I would expect of an ethiopian restaurant. Their service is quick and we were able to get our food within 20 minutes. We also got refills of our water regularly. It's a small hole in the wall that gets pretty busy.

I was immensely impressed and satisfied with the food and services at this restaurant. Their fish tibs is one of my favorite. It's cooked perfectly and goes well with their rice as well as enjera. Definitely a must try.

I have been to a number of Ethiopian restaurants in Charlotte and prior to coming to Enat, I was ready to give up on the cuisine. This place is, by far, the best Ethiopian food that I have tried.

It was cold and I was lazy so I got food from Enat delivered via Postmates. It came fast and everything was at the right temp and delicious.
